Inter-University Transit System (IUTS) The Inter-University Transit System (IUTS) was created to provide COU members and associate members a means to share or distribute library books, related materials and first-class mail in an effective, low-cost manner. Since its inception, this service has expanded to include other universities in the National Capital Region (NCR) of Ottawa, as well as participating institutions in Quebec under the Prêts entre bibliothèques des universités du Québec/ University Interlibrary Loans (PEBUQUILL) program. For a full list of users, please see Appendices 1, 2 and 3.
In August 2009, after a detailed review, it was decided to award the distribution aspect of these services to Purolator Courier Ltd. The primary benefits of this decision include: - A broader range of service options, including an online tracking system.
- Improved technology, waybill processing and shipping procedures.
- Centralized e-billing, reporting and monitoring.
- Access to dedicated account support through Purolator Customer Support Associates.
- A more cost-effective service.
